MARTIN COUSINS

Reunion 2006-"Martins in the Mountains"

HOME

On October 5, 6 and 7 the Hidden Mountain River Lodge of Sevierville TN rang with the combined voices of 28 Martins (especially when Tennessee football was on).

One of the highlights of the reunion was cousin Renee and her husband Phil (Blankenstein). What a wonderful time we had getting to know them and hopefully, them getting to know us.

The location was absolutely gorgeous and a lot of rocking was accomplished on the back balcony. Did you know that Martins rock at the speed of their speech pattern?

Several cousins enjoyed tours through Gatlinberg and the Smoky Mountains, while other cousins entertained themselves with the wildlife.

Nelda and Miss Lil (who is now an official member of the Martin clan) did a fantastic job keeping everyone fed. I especially liked Larry's biscuit:

Saturday, we were entertained by a guitar/banjo band. Does anyone know how many times ROCKY TOP TENNESSEE can be sung in one night?

We were heartened by the sight of the next generation - Shari, Cheryl, Butch, Elaine, Cindy, and Kip - participating in the activities, including the food prep, cleaning up, and planning for the next reunion.

Those attending were:
Lloyd and Elizabeth Graff with their daughter Shari Filkins, Lyle and Ruby Graff, Larry and Danell Martin, Nelda Toon, Nelda's friend Lil Walton, Jack Worth, Kip and Twila Worth, Carmen and John McGee, Renee and Phil Blankenstein, Cheryl Petty, Charlie and Mary Ellen Graham, Allen ("Butch") and Pamela Toon and grandaughter, Rob and Elaine Parker III with son Hunter, Cindy Applegate with daughters Carson and Sarah.

Cameras were constantly clikcing, so for lots more photos, Click Here.

We want to express thanks to Nelda and her special helpers. Everything about the reunion was perfect. The facilities, the food, the entertainment, and the location.
